Poetry Café 1
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
welcome to the café, we have poetry tonight
welcome to redemption, take some if you can
You enter with smiles, nods of approval and a heart so sincere
confident of your timely removal, and a code to which you will adhere
aha but the storm cloud explodes and the first thing you feel
is fear for your life
you recognize there’s a fight to be won
but you don’t know wrong from right
the battles rage on the machine demands allegiance
and the victims call for revenge
confusion and noise it all surrounds you and just want it all to end
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
welcome to the path you chose
you thank the kindness of the lover
who saw grace within your eyes
She was not a divine messenger of the Muse
She was a flower thriving in the glory of the light
she said people do not go there because they choose to
it is a voyage best described as flight
this is a forced journey, the pilgrim in exile, the expatriate
the warrior who turned his back on war
The Seer, The Lover, The Friend
I cannot stay
I must do what the visions tell me.
like a ghost seeking company in its grave,
the loveless beacon.
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
The substance of the matter,
is in the densely laden details.
The woven fabric is both matter and weave
There are moments where the weave of time
gives weigh to a densely laden detail.
This fragment opens to an endless sea
this fragment's truth can not be denied
dreams are movements
it created the dream, it created the monster
we the vessel, combine time and motion
and so, we dream ... we dream in circles
where all existence revolves on itself
expressing an eternal fragment in between the motion
stillness testifies to all being
when the orbit restarts it’s rotation,
we are again within the weave
our own solitary substance against the dream
It was the summer of our dreams,
we voyaged galaxies of mind and emotion
cut clean, a path beyond creation.
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
welcome to the dream we share
and the night moves along, she feels her song slip slowly by
she says oh my,
i was dreaming of a song, something simple not to long
and it showed us how to care, and that we might even learn to …
once there was a tribe with an immortal soul, given to our mother
when the night rolls back it's curtain
when dark turns into day
when the light comes out for certain
it's the dawning of your age
Your age is harmony, that has never been heard before
your age is destiny, that has never been heard before
your age is understanding, that has never been heard before
your age is, your age is, your age is the beginning
Lift your eye, learn to see, hear the sound, and be free
when the light comes out for certain
it's the dawning of your age
the planet needs a hero
I hear the hero could be you
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
welcome to the world we share
When you confiscated the evidence of love,
three wise man stole the shadow from your mind
stark black and white made vivid striations of contemplation.
Confounding the artifice of formal learning,
intuition raised the specter,
doom played sweet melodies
of sublime remembrance.
The cutting edge, invisible,
you took it to the light,
splashed screams across its canvas,
made vile deception beg forgiveness,
made virgin lust confess her sin
made false redeemers reconsider,
made the huckster search within.
When you confiscated the evidence of love,
you took a long last look behind
took the staircase to the mountain,
kissed the begging bole,
mavericked the desperation into
words dancing druids tongue,
sketched the Sanskrit desert song
across a weeping sky.
Like bullets, words tore open caverns
through historic crypt,
and as a joke, you refuted the sermon ...
as a joke, stepped inside the demon
wrenched sentiment from it like daggers from a sponge.
Made a last incantation for beauty,
smiled, and disappeared.
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
welcome to the love we share
you are tired and confused and
the road that leads nowhere seems to stretch out without an end
your words tell the story, our struggle to be sane
as you reach through the darkness, for the light
When first I saw you
Like a dove sent to our window
You tempted intuition
with a crust of knowledge
when I first saw you
light was new
deep inside a river of myth
your kiss
shimmering
promise of destiny ...
love
freely given
Welcome to the darkness, welcome to the light
welcome to the hope we share
hay babe, you got me, in the palm of your hand
The Savior, The Destroyer
legend of steel, legend of fire
only legends of love endure
